Evangelical Lutheran Women |
|
The nature and purpose of this group is to promote spiritual growth, nurture home and family life, provide affirmation and service to the congregation, community and the world, and to offer opportunities for leadership development and provide support and friendship for each other and the members of St. Paul's. This is accomplished through programs, guest speakers, social events, outings, and monthly offerings. Although fund raising is a very small part of this ministry, major church improvements have been made through the efforts of these women. We would like to invite women in the community to join our group. Being a member of St. Paul's is not a requirement. For further information or a ride to meetings, please call the church office at (905) 884-6915 and leave a message. October 8th - Thanks to Hans Evensen for volunteering to take a van load to St. Jacob’s with our CLWR donations (from there it goes to Winnipeg by Home Hardware truck). Please bring in all kits you have ready or partly ready by September 27th. We will have lunch at the Stone Crock, followed by a visit to the St. Jacob’s market. If you would like to come along, please speak to Jean Evensen or Sylvia Limpert ASAP. The cost: $10 towards gas (a little more if you wish); in addition, we will each pay for our own lunches. October 21st – Beginning at 1:00 p.m. - A dessert bufet and travelogue by Renate Torok regarding her trip to Turkey (a DVD show and narrative). We will designate this as a Project 2009 event – cost $6. This will be a very pleasant and informative afternoon; bring a friend. October 24th – Toronto Conference ELW Fall Event at Advent Lutheran Church, 2800 Don Mills Road East, North York. Beginning with registration at 9:00 a.m. Please inform Syvia by October 19th if you would like to go. Cost: $10. November 11th – 1:00 p.m. M.J. Perry will tell us about “The Children’s Aid Society”. Too often this organization gets bad press and we rarely hear abuot all the good they do in the community. This is your chance to become better informed. Bring a friend or encourage another member of St. Paul’s to attend. Refreshments served following M.J.’s presentation. |
